This is evaluation is just a way for me to see what I have done, what I need to do, how I'm going to do it and what I want out of my projects.
So far I feel as though I have taken on too many briefs and feel I am struggling to finish each brief to a high enough standard. Due to this I have decided to cut some of my less important briefs short, making the final deliverables less than first intended, such as the tea brief. I have done this as I would like to focus my attentions on my more important briefs. When I say important I mean the briefs that will give me some great, relevant pieces of work for my portfolio and briefs that I have really wanted to get stuck into as the content, method of production or final product is something I am really interested in. I have made plans of all the changes i will put in place to certain briefs and created a plan of action for the rest of my briefs in the run up to assessment. This should hopefully help with generating quality work and creative and relevant final products for my remaining briefs.

Plan for briefs left to do...
Lampshades -
* Laser cut all designs and affix to appropriate paper.
* Photograph them as finished products (not to a safe retail standard as explained in this post here)
* Update blog with final designs and product photography shots.
Occasions -
* Complete a whole range of products to a professional standard, that focus on the words "Thank You" (card, bag, tag, wrapping paper and bow) using blind embossing and foiling. (to be handed in for the December deadline, i will develop my designs to include the required six designs/ranges using thank you as a starting point to make the designs more personal after Christmas before the deadline)
* Update blog with important key elements of designing process.
* Take photographs of final designs as a whole range, in context.
ISTD Zine -
* Find relevant text and articles for imagery of the Zines theme of maps.
* Look at more contextual research to inform ideas and designs
* Experiment with text layout and map imagery. Take screen shots of development and experimentation.
* Print out design onto different stocks and experiment with stock and format
* Print out final zine in mac suite.
* Update blog with photography of final product.
Fairy tale book -
* Experiment with layout of typography and fonts.
* Look at more contextual research to inform ideas and designs.
* Layout whole document to include all space for illustrations, thumbnails and drop caps.
* Experiment with illustrations in relation to chosen stories
* Show development of illustrations from initial ideas to final designs.
* Print out layouts on different stocks to see what works best.
* Finalise layouts, imagery and layout: print on final choice of stock and photograph in context.
Tea Towel Brief -
(finish this brief in a day!)
*Experiment with mixed media to generate imagery that can be used to complete a contemporary design that would be appropriate for ToDryFor.com and finish to a mocked up standard on the mac.
* Update blog on brief changes, development and final designs.

Brief changes
The following changes have taken place on the following briefs:
Illuminated Typographic Lampshade
* The final designs required will be three lampshades, instead of six and instead of creating them to a full safe working saleable standard they will be mocked up and photographed as though they are fully safe and functional. The only reason i have changed this factor of this brief is because of the time available and I am not interested in wiring lampshades and making them, just designing them. So all three designs will be fully cut, created & photographed in context.
Tea Brief
* Instead of creating paper cut designs that would be transferred to a ceramic/porcelain mug, I will create a tea towel design that would be appropriate for the website ToDryFor.com.
* This brief will be completed in a day as it is a brief that just needs to be finished!
Occasions -
* One range of products, that include a bag, tag, card, bow and wrapping paper design for the greeting/occasion "Thank You" instead of six designs, that the brief requires.
* This is what i will hand in for the assesment in December and I will develop this idea into a more substantial range of designs that stick with the theme of "Thank You" but will be personalised to say such greetings as "thank you...... for helping me move" etc, which I will then go on to present to Wendy.
All these changes have been made so that I can focus my designs for my main two last briefs, of creating a zine for an ISTD brief and a book of illustrated fairytales so I can produce a better quality product for each of these briefs. I feel as though I have also taken on a large amount of work and briefs as i have already finished three (Anorak, Headline and my typographic lampshades) and still have the occasions brief and my tea towel brief that I want to finish ASAP so i can get stuck into my final two briefs.

Occassions Briefing
The briefing was really interesting and i ended up taking four pages of notes i was so interested! Wendy Beattie came in to explain the process of creating designs in advance for certain seasons, where she has worked and her experience, stocks, materials, processes and finishes and what she would like us to produce as well as current trends and how to go about researching trends.
The basic concept is to produce a range of typography based products/designs that can be used on greeting cards, gift wrap, tags, bows, bags and any other format appropriate. The occassion to be designed is my choice and must include typography (can also include image too) Their must be a minimum of six designs per range i.e 6 cards, 6 bags, 6 tags etc or a combined range of three designs. I can't wait to get started on this brief ! I will go visit shops and card retailers to get an insight into the current markets trends at the moment. As Wendy described, trends also come from high street home furnishings, fashion and art etc so I will also try to get some research from these places too. I would really like to design something that focuses on a happy occassion such as "Congratulations", "Happy Birthday", "its a Boy/Girl!" or something that is a big celebration.
